The arc formed by the curved lines of case and bezel and the evocative space created by the watch’s slightly off-centre placement make for a design as unusual as it is elegant. This bold look has been adopted by subsequent CITIZEN L models since its 2012 debut and is now an integral part of the brand’s identity.
The name of the Arcly Series is inspired by the crescent moon-like arc formed by the diverging concentric rings at the bottom left of each model. New Arcly Series models will be unveiled at Baselworld 2018.
The Arcly Series’ three-colour spiral case takes its inspiration from the world of music, specifically from a composition known as a canon. In a canon, a melody announced in one instrument is imitated by other instruments entering after the first has started.
The spiral case with its three different colour rings expresses the overlapping melodies. A shimmering 2.0 mm diamond sits at one end of the middle ring. The empty space around the diamond provides a glimpse of the start of the spiral shape against the wearer’s skin for a natural, relaxed elegance.
The symmetrical circular space between the case and the ring feels light and graceful, an effect which is accentuated by the use of two different colours for case and ring. The purity and harmony of this deceptively simple design is heightened by the mother-of-pearl dial and single diamond.
Moon-glazed sapphire glass, a frosted version of ultra-translucent sapphire glass, is the Ambiluna Collection’s design signature. The frosted sapphire glass balanced like a dewdrop on top of the straight sides of the highly polished case makes for a thrilling contrast. The fine pattern on the embossed stainless-steel mesh band evokes the natural textures of wood and sand and glimmers when it catches the light. A further note of elegance is added by the diamond at the bottom right.
