Life-extending AO oil:
Too good to keep to ourselves
Lubricating oil plays an essential role to play in helping watches run smoothly and for the long
term. Watches grind to a stop when the oil inside them degrades, and deteriorating oil can drain
the battery and wear out components, shortening the watch’s lifetime.
Our efforts to
develop our own oil, one that could address these problems, resulted in AO Oil, which extends
the watch’s life while reducing the maintenance-related environmental burden.
Rather than
keep this amazing technology to ourselves, we opted to make it available to watchmakers
everywhere. Now both watchmakers and the environment can benefit from AO Oil. It was simply too
good not to share.
The idea of sharing is deeply rooted in CITIZEN’s DNA, because a good
way to reduce our impact on the environment is to share with everybody else.
