ARTIST PROFILE
Tak Matsumoto (Guitar, Composition, Producer)
Koshi Inaba (Vocals, Lyrics)
In 1988, Tak Matsumoto, who had been actively involved in studio work and Supported tours for various artists, set out to form a band where he could fully express his own music. It was in this pursuit that he crossed paths with Koshi Inaba, and together, they formed B’z. Their debut came on the 21st of September of the same year, with the simultaneous release of the single “Dakara Sono Tewo Hanashite” and their first album, “B’z”.
With a constantly evolving sound that explored diverse musical styles, B’z took the music scene by storm. At the same time, they embarked on their signature tour series, known as “LIVE-GYM.” Their performances grew in scale, from concert halls to arenas, domes, and even stadiums, captivating audiences with electrifying stage presence and immersive entertainment. The sheer intensity of their live shows earned them an unwavering fan base and immense popularity.
Their influence extends beyond Japan, as they became the first artists from Asia to be inducted into *Hollywood’s RockWalk*, an honor reserved for musicians who have made significant contributions to Rock’n Roll. Now, more than 35 years since their formation, B’z remains, in both name and achievement, the most successful band in Japan.
Founded in 2011, MAPPA is an animation studio that plans and produces a variety of genre-transcending visual works including animated TV series, films, commercials, web movies, etc. Representative works include “Jujutsu Kaisen", "Attack on Titan: The Final Season", and "Chainsaw Man".
