What you can do with this watch

Question: What can I do with the watch and the app?
Answer: They will enable you to do the following things:

◊ Receiving time information

The watch adjusts time and calendar automatically using time info provided from the smartphone.

◊ Incoming call notification

Incoming call notification comes to the watch as your smartphone receives a call.
Sound and/or vibration can be added to the notification by the second hand through the settings on the app.

◊ Various info notification

Notification comes to the watch as your smartphone receives a mail or notification from scheduler, SNS, etc.
Sound and/or vibration can be added to the notification by the second hand through the settings on the app.

◊ Disconnection notification

The watch notifies your smartphone's disconnection due to their distance or other reasons.
No settings are required.

◊ Making the smartphone emit sound

The watch can send signals to registered smartphones. The smartphone which received the signals emits notification sound.

App overview

Question: Can I install this app in my smartphone?
Answer: The app is available with your smartphone if its OS and Bluetooth are newer than below: Android OS: version 5.1 or newer. iOS: version 9.3 or newer (Optimized for iPhone 5 or greater. ). Bluetooth: version 4.0 or newer.
Question: What is the name of the app? Where can I get it?
Answer: Search the dedicated app "CITIZEN Bluetooth Watch" at a store of apps for your smartphone and download it to the phone.
Question: What is the pattern displayed on the screen of the app when the watch and the smartphone are connected?
Answer: The current power generation amount of the watch connected is indicated in a light pattern.
Coloring of the pattern is corresponding to the power generation amount: the color changes as Blue -> Yellow -> Red as the amount get larger.
The pattern in the figure means that the power generation amount is almost maximum.
Question:How can I read the indication on "Light Level" screen?
Answer: When you move the slider on the top of the screen to "Day" or "Week", the power generation amount of every hour of the day is indicated in a line graph.
When you chose "Week", another slider for switching daily indication of the latest seven days is also appears.

When you move the slider on the top of the screen to "Month", daily power generation amount is indicated in a line graph and the weekly total amount in horizontal bar graphs.
The left side of the bar graph of the last week is marked with a blue vertical line. You can extend connection time when the bar graph with the blue line exceeds the "+2", "+4" or "+6" line on the screen.
Tap "+2", "+4" or "+6" mark in white when you extend connection time.
Question: What functions can I use on the dedicated app?
Answer: Here we explain the screens of the app.

◊ Startup screen

The LLI (Light-Level Indication) graphic is displayed when the phone is connected with the watch. It indicates the real-time condition of power generation of the watch connected. Larger light on the screen means larger power generation of the watch.

◊ Local Time

The "Local time" means the time and calendar displayed on the watch when its mode is [L-TM]. It can display a time of a different area from that displayed in the [TME] mode. You can use a world map to choose an area for the local time directly when you use the app to set it.

◊ Alarm

You can set the alarm day of week as well as the alarm time and activate/deactivate it on the app.

◊ Light Level

You can browse the record of power generation condition of the watch. The record of power generation amount per day, week and month is shown graphically.

◊ Notification

You can choose apps which have the notification function and activate/deactivate the function. You can apply the notification filter to tune targets of notification finely in addition.

◊ Setting

You can see the list of smartphones registered on the watch; you can also adjust the time sync setting and connection time setting. In addition, you can set your smartphone so that it would emit sound as it receives signals from the watch.

Pairing (registration)

Question: I newly bought the "Eco-Drive Bluetooth" watch and I cannot pair (register) it with the smartphone.
Answer: Install the dedicated app "CITIZEN Bluetooth Watch" in the target smartphone and start it up, and DO NOT move to any other screen until registration is finished.

Refer to the quick guide or "Pairing (registering) the smartphone" on the setting instruction for more information about registration.

Instruction manual

On some models of smartphones and in some versions of OSs, you must allow using of your location information.
Activation of Bluetooth sharing may be required in some case.
Setting examples:

Ask their manufacturers or developers for further information for setting of smartphones or apps other than the dedicated app.
Question: I did pairing (registration) once before but I want to register the same smartphone from a clean state. How can I do that?
Answer: Registration information is recorded in both the smartphone and the watch after successful registration. Remove the information before executing registration again.
For removing registration information, refer to "Cannot register the same smartphone" on Troubleshooting or "Removing pairing (registration) information" on Instruction manual.
Question: I have two smartphones and want to pair (register) both with the watch but I cannot register the second one. Why?
Answer: You must switch saving destination of registration information when you register two smartphones.
For details, refer to "Cannot register other smartphones" on Troubleshooting or "Pairing (registering) the smartphone" on Instruction manual.
You may not register the second smartphone even after switching the saving destination of registration information while the dedicated app "CITIZEN Bluetooth Watch" is active on the first one. Shut down the app on the first one.
Question: How can I delete the pairing information in the dedicated app on the smartphone?
Answer: The pairing information in the dedicated app is updated with that in the "Eco-Drive Bluetooth" watch each time the watch and the smartphone are connected.
Delete unnecessary pairing information on the watch and connect it with the smartphone to delete that in the dedicated app on the smartphone.
Pairing information in the dedicated app cannot be deleted through the Bluetooth setting on the smartphone.
In addition, the pairing information in the dedicated app used for current connection cannot be deleted while the information is used.

When the dedicated app is deleted on the smartphone, all of its settings such as notification setting are also deleted.

Connection

Question: I tried to connect the watch with my smartphone immediately but cannot. Why?
Answer: Install the dedicated app "CITIZEN Bluetooth Watch" in your smartphone and execute pairing (registration).
Question: I want to kill connection. How can I do it?
Answer: Change the mode of the watch to [TME] or [L-TM] and push the crown in to the normal position. Press and hold the upper right button for 4 seconds then to kill connection.
Shutting the app down completely also disconnects the watch and phone.
Question: The connection between the "Eco-Drive Bluetooth" watch and the smartphone breaks unintentionally. Why?
Answer: There are some possible causes of disconnection.
- The distance between the watch and the smartphone becomes too far to keep Bluetooth connection.
- There is some obstacle between the watch and the smartphone.
- A certain time passed. (Connection is kept up to 6 hours and breaks automatically in the initial setting. Connection time can be extended depending on the power generation amount of the watch.)
- The dedicated app is closed on the smartphone.
- The dedicated app cannot run in the background due to settings of the smartphone.

The dedicated app may not run in the background due to security and/or power saving settings of your smartphone.
In that case, you need to change settings of your smartphone to make the app run in the background.
Setting examples:
Choosing "Not optimized" in "Battery optimization"
Turning off the "Battery saver"
Allowing "Running in background"

Some power saver apps may also close connection.

Ask their manufacturers or developers for further information for setting of smartphones or apps other than the dedicated app.
Question: How can I connect them again?
Answer: Operate the watch as follows:
Change the mode of the watch to [TME] or [L-TM] and push the crown in to the normal position.
Press the upper right button then to connect them again.
When the second hand indicates notification, release it by pressing and holding any button for 2 seconds after making the mode of the watch [TME] or [L-TM] and the position of the crown normal.
Question: The watch is not connected with the second smartphone.
Answer: This watch can register up to three smartphones. You must switch to registration information of the one you want to connect on the watch when connecting them. The watch cannot be connected with two or more smartphones at the same time.
To switch registration information, change the mode of the watch to [TME], pull the crown out fully and turn it.
Question: I cannot connect the watch after changing my smartphone to a new one or updating its OS. Why?
It is recommended to remove the past registration information and register the phone again.
Refer to Troubleshooting for details.
Question: "Check the Internet connection." appears as I tap "Light Level" on the screen of the dedicated app. What can I do?
Answer: Check the Internet connection of the smartphone you are using.

When it is connected, our server for processing the "Light Level" data from your watch may temporarily stop service for maintenance. Try again later.

Local time and alarm

Question: I had set alarm on the app but the alarm did not sound at the time set. Why?
Answer: The time you set on the app is overridden if you set alarm on the watch after setting it on the app. Set alarm on the app again.
Question: The indication on the watch does not change after setting local time on the app. Why?
Answer: Change the mode of the watch to [L-TM] after setting local time on the app to indicate it.
The time and calendar indicated when the mode of the watch is [TME] is sometimes called "Home time".

Notification

Question: What is notification?
Answer: Generally, a smartphone tells its user incoming phone calls, reception of mails or messages through SNS services by using a banner on the screen, sound or vibration.
Such notices are called notification.
CITIZEN Bluetooth Watch is connected with your smartphone through the dedicated app, which has the same name as the watch, and can take notification in the phone and use its original notification function.
The second hand indicates types of notification by pointing certain places on the watch and notification sound and/or vibration can be activated/deactivated.

Question: No notification comes. What can I do?
Answer: Set items from which you want notification to "ON" on the "Notification" screen of the dedicated app.
In addition, you need to allow notification from apps from which you want notification, such as the dedicated app.
Setting examples:
Turning "Allow Notifications" on
Turning "Show in Notification Center" on
Changing the notification style to "Banners" or "Alerts"
Setting "Battery optimization" to "Not optimized" for the apps sending no notification

Question: Notification of a mail does not come though notification of phone call comes. What can I do?
Answer: Check the notification setting on the mail app on the smartphone and activate it.
Set "Mail" to "ON" on the "Notification" screen of the dedicated app.
On some models of smartphones and in some versions of OSs, you must set the mail account from which you want to get notification to the default mail account.

Connection time

Question: How can I extend connection time of the "Eco-Drive Bluetooth" watch and the smartphone?
Answer: The connection time of the watch with smartphone is 6 hours at maximum when purchased.
However, the time can be extended if you used the watch with making it generate power well.
Extension amount may increase up to 6 hours at 2-hour increment depending on power generation amount and the total connection time can be extended to 8, 10, or 12 hours.
Connection time return to 6 hours when power generation amount becomes insufficient.

You can see the condition of power generation of the watch on the "Light Level" screen of the app.
In the sample on the figure, the power generation amount of the last week (marked with a green dotted line) exceed the "+2" line (orange dotted line). This means the connection time can be extended to 8 hours.
Tap "+2" mark in white (pointed with the red arrow) when you extend connection time.
