Making responsible choices in minerals sourcing

Confronting environmental and human-rights issues head-on

Tantalum, tin, gold, tungsten, cobalt—watches require a range of different minerals. But these minerals come with risks of their own. Are they helping to finance armed groups? Are they mined using child labour or forced labour? CITIZEN audits its mineral suppliers every year to make sure they are not involved in any human rights abuse.

For all their splendid appearance, diamonds come with similar risks. AT CITIZEN, our solution is to make proactive use of synthetic diamonds. They have the same hardness and sparkle as natural diamonds but are created in laboratories with proper respect for the environment, and in compliance with safety and labor laws.

We don’t want anyone to suffer at any stage of the watchmaking process. We will keep working to source minerals in a responsible way, untainted by human misery.
