Limited-edition 30th anniversary model with an indigo washi paper dial made using a traditional dyeing technique
The CITIZEN watches, created as part of CITIZEN’s pursuit of the essence of the watch, provide both superior quality and outstanding accuracy. A new limited-edition model will be launched to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand.
This new limited-edition 30th anniversary model is equipped with a high-accuracy light-powered Eco-Drive*1 movement that offers high annual accuracy of ±5 seconds. The deep black case, made of Super Titanium™*2 and treated with Duratect DLC*3, is accented by a hand-dyed indigo Tosa washi paper dial created using the traditional Murakumo shibori dyeing technique that produces captivating cloud-like patterns.

The CITIZEN was established in 1995 as a collection of watches that integrate seamlessly with the lifestyle of their owner. 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of this groundbreaking brand. To celebrate this milestone, CITIZEN is launching a new limited-edition The CITIZEN model with an indigo-dyed washi paper dial.
Murakamo shibori dyeing is a traditional technique that begins with artisans gently compressing washi paper to create countless delicate wrinkles. Dye is then applied to the paper, creating an intricate pattern called Murakumo, a word that describes gathering clouds in the sky. The wrinkles created in the washi paper are random and unique, and no two dials are the same. The exquisitely beautiful pattern is created by intentionally varying the spacing of the wrinkles in the paper, resulting in a dial that captures the mesmerizing beauty of clouds in the sky in varying shades of indigo. The case and bracelet are made of Super Titanium™ treated with Duratect DLC, providing a deep black color that contrasts beautifully with the indigo washi paper on the dial.
The blue-colored crocodile leather strap is produced by a tanner certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG)*4.
This model is equipped with a high-accuracy light-powered Eco-Drive movement with annual accuracy of ±5 seconds. The eagle marks on the dial, crown, and case back symbolize the twin ideals of The CITIZEN - foresight and dedication to the pursuit of ideals as well as the enduring connection between watch and wearer.

■ Captivating Tosa washi paper dial with a cloud-like Murakumo pattern
Washi paper has long been used for paper screens in Japan to bring natural light into living spaces, making it the ideal material for Eco-Drive watch dials. The washi paper on the dial was hand-dyed using a traditional technique known as natural lye fermentation dyeing.
This new limited-edition model, created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The CITIZEN, offers a truly unique texture on the dial created by combining delicate washi paper and traditional craftsmanship.
■ Movement with high annual accuracy of ± 5 seconds and a perpetual calendar
This new mode is equipped with a high-accuracy light-powered Eco-Drive movement with annual accuracy of ±5 seconds, eliminating the need for regular battery changes. All The CITIZEN models with high annual accuracy also feature a perpetual calendar that automatically adjusts the end of each month, including in leap years, until February 28, 2100. This model is also equipped with CITIZEN’s proprietary impact detection and lock function to protect the watch mechanism, an automatic hand correction function in the event that the hands deviate from the correct time, as well as a calendar that changes instantly at the stroke of midnight.
■ Super Titanium™ case
CITIZEN’s proprietary Super Titanium™ is the ideal material for wristwatches - it is lightweight (approx. 40% lighter than stainless steel) with superior hardness (approx. 5 times harder than stainless steel), as well as being corrosion resistant and gentle on the skin. The case is treated with Duratect DLC, producing a black metal surface with an attractive sheen that stays beautiful for longer.
■ The eagle mark - the symbol of The CITIZEN
The dial, crown, and case back feature eagle marks - the symbol of The CITIZEN. Eagles have incredible eyesight – they can clearly spot their prey from a distance of 1,000 meters or more. The eagle symbolizes foresight, the ability to anticipate the future and act accordingly. Eagles have also formed bonds with humans since ancient times. The eagle mark symbolizes the twin ideals of The CITIZEN - foresight and dedication to the pursuit of ideals as well as the enduring connection between watch and wearer.

A first within the watch industry, Eco-Drive was certified as an Eco Mark product by the Japan Environment Association (JEA) and recognized for its contribution to environmental sustainability.
