Features

The sunburst pattern and rich crimson
bring the textured washi to vibrant life

Eco-Drive is powered by light. As a result, Eco-Drive dials have a double duty: to be both aesthetically pleasing and sufficiently light-transmissible that light can penetrate to the solar cell beneath. Our pursuit of these twin goals led us to Tengu-jo, an ultra-thin variety of Tosa washi manufactured by Kochi-based Hidakawashi.

The upper plate treated with a special pigmentation technique that sits on top of the washi is a deep crimson hue. Intensely vibrant in itself, it also serves to highlight the intricate textures of the washi. Using an upper plate also made it possible to achieve both rich colouration and light transmissibility. The expressive materiality of the Tosa washi, which subtly emerges from deep within the rich crimson, and the delicate shading of the sunburst pattern, which radiates out from the centre, emit a soft glow whenever they catch the light. The resulting sense of depth makes for a dial suggestive of passions hidden just beneath the surface.

Where sophistication and comfort meet:
Super Titanium™ treated with DURATECT Platinum

The brilliant, translucent tones of the DURATECT Platinum with which the case is treated further accentuate the already powerful presence of the crimson dial. Meanwhile, the lifespan of the watch is extended because it retains its pristine, scratch-free shine. Comfort on the skin is another point of attraction.

Functions include a perpetual calendar (requiring no month-end adjustments until February 28, 2100, leap years included) and an instant date change mechanism that advances the calendar to the next day precisely at midnight.
