Fabric with recycled fibers
Features
Fabric that contains fibers recycled from the PET bottles and other wastes collected in the riverside and seaside cleanup campaign. Durability of the band made of this material is kept equivalent to the normal synthetic leather band but the wear comfort is softer. UpDRIFT™*, a project operated by JEPLAN and TOSHIMA aiming for taking measures of marine debris supported the development of this material.
*UpDRIFT™: A project to change wastes such as PET bottles collected in the riverside and seaside cleanup campaign into resources and products with reduced environmental burdens.
Handling
• Wear this kind of band rather loosen to allow ventilation.
• Take care not to adhere volatile chemicals, bleaches, alcoholic chemicals such as cosmetics and detergents. Also take care not to expose the band to strong ultraviolet ray such as direct sunlight for a long time to avoid discoloration and deformation.
Caring
• If the band gets wet or sweaty, quickly wipe off the moisture by wiping the band gently with a soft dry cloth.
Knit (ECOPET® is partly used)
Features
The material that “ECOPET®*”, a polyester fiber made from collected PET bottles and clothes is partly used.
*Polyester fiber made out of collected PET bottles and clothes utilizing a recycling technology. CO2 emissions can be reduced more compared to those made from petroleum. It has the flexible and soft characteristics.
Handling
• Due to the characteristics of the material, knit products may split between the nets or the stitches may be unequal when excessively pressed or pulled.
• When the band touches materials such as alcohol and cosmetics, it may become discolored or may start smelling.
• When left wet, the band may become disclosed or worn. Depending on the band, avoid using it in a bath, for swimming and/or wet work even if the watch itself is waterproof.
Caring
• Soak the band in water and clean it softly by hands.
• After cleaning, pull it into shape and then put it in the airy place out of the sun to dry.
• When using detergent, use a neutral one and avoid putting undiluted solution. It may cause the color unevenness.
Piñatex®
Features
Natural and innovative fabric made from the pineapple leaf fiber, which is a byproduct of pineapple farmers. The biomass left after removing the fibers from leaves can be used as a nutrient rich natural fertilizer and biofuel. There is no waste for the production of “Piñatex®*”.
* Piñatex® is a trade mark of Ananas Anam UK Limited.
Handling
• Because it is natural, aging including abrasion, deformation, and/or discoloration cannot be avoided. Replace it occasionally.
• Wear this kind of band rather loosen to allow ventilation.
• Take care not to adhere volatile chemicals, bleaches, alcoholic chemicals such as cosmetics and detergents.
Caring
• If the band gets wet or sweaty, quickly wipe off the moisture by wiping the band gently with a soft dry cloth.
Apple Leather
Features
The material made from the apples’ leftovers including skins and residues as a replacement of natural leather characterized with its smooth texture. It is an environmentally-friendly, anti-animal material that can not only reduce environmental load when processing wastes but also reduce the content of resin derived from petroleum.
Handling
• Because it is natural, aging including abrasion, deformation, and/or discoloration cannot be avoided. Replace it occasionally.

Bridle Leather
Features
Strong and durable leather made by soaking the rawhide in tannin pits for several months and then fully waxed between its fibers.
Handling
• Take care not to adhere bleaches, alcoholic chemicals such as cosmetics and detergents. It may cause discoloration.
• Due to the characteristics of the leather, white powders called “bloom” may appear on the leather surface. The bloom is caused by the natural waxes and oils rising to the surface.
Caring
• If the band gets wet or sweaty, quickly wipe off the moisture by wiping the band gently with a soft dry cloth. Using the soft cloth, wipe the bloom off lightly in parallel to the line where the bloom appears.
Printed Bands
Features
Bands with a pattern printed onto the band material (e.g. polyester) from above.
* The print specifications vary depending on the model.
Handling
• When placing an Eco-Drive watch in direct sunlight for recharging, be sure to cover the band. Prolonged exposure to strong light may cause discoloration in the band.
• When the product is wet through exposure to perspiration or rain, friction may cause the band’s color to rub off or run into other fabrics.
Caring
• If the band gets wet or sweaty, quickly wipe off the moisture by wiping the band gently with a soft dry cloth.
• Dry the band by gently wiping off any moisture and allowing the band to dry thoroughly in a shady and well-ventilated location.
CORDURA®
Features
CORDURA® fabric is created to be long-lasting and durable in everyday use, with excellent resistance to abrasion, scratching and wear.
* CORDURA® is a registered trademark of INVISTA and is used for fabric with superior durability.
Handling
• Take care to avoid contact between the band and volatile chemicals, bleach and substances that contain alcohol (cosmetics, detergents, etc.).
• When the band is wet through exposure to perspiration or rain, friction may cause the band’s color to rub off or run into other fabrics.
• The surface of the band is treated with water-repellent and stain-resistant coatings, but contact with water should be avoided as it could cause the coating to peel or lead to hydrolysis. If the band is exposed to water in any way, thoroughly wipe off any moisture and allow the band to dry thoroughly in a shady and well-ventilated location.
Caring
• Dirt and dust on the surface should be lightly brushed off with a soft brush.
• If the band gets wet or sweaty, quickly wipe off the moisture by wiping the band gently with a soft dry cloth.
Biomass urethane
Features
Urethane bands made from “castor oil” obtained from castor beans. It is environmentally friendly because it is plant-derived.
* BENEBiOL™ is a registered trademark of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation.
Handling
• For a urethane band, it may be impossible to remove discoloration (color transfer) caused by contact with dirt and dyes in clothing or other sources. You should avoid using clothing or bags that are not color fast with the watch.
• Take care to avoid contact between the band and volatile chemicals, bleach and substances that contain alcohol (cosmetics, detergents, etc.). Urethane may deteriorate (hydrolyze) due to contact with solvents or airborne moisture. Consider replacing the band if it shows any cracking, as this could lead to the watch falling off.
Caring
• Soak the band in water and clean it softly by hands.
• Dry the band in a well-ventilated location out of the sun.
