Watch strap Length Adjustment and Replacement
Watch strap Length Adjustment and Replacement
Adjusting the bracelet length
Metal bracelets
You can have the length of a metal bracelet adjusted either by asking the store where you purchased your watch, or by contacting a Citizen Authorized Service Center.
In the case of the following types of watch strap, you can also adjust the length yourself.
Type 1: Watches that no longer form a circle when unclasped
The watch bracelet separates into 2 parts, and you can then adjust the clasp on one part to any position (mesh watch bracelet, etc.). This type is referred to as a "sliding clasp”.
Type 2: Watches that still form a circle when unclasped
These watch straps feature a push-button used to open the clasp that secures the fitting, and can be freely adjusted. This type is referred to as a "fold-over push-button deployment type”.
Watch Leather Straps
Depending on the type of clasp, some leather straps must be adjusted for length by setting the clasp position before you put the watch on.
Type 1: Watch leather straps with a fold-over deployment clasp
These leather straps feature a push-button used to open the clasp that secures the fitting, and can be adjusted by selecting a hole in the leather watch strap on one side of the fitting. This type is referred to as the "fold-over push-button deployment type”.
Type 2: Watch Leather straps that open at both ends
On these leather straps, push-buttons on each side of the clasp that secures the fitting open both sides of the clasp outward. The length is adjusted by selecting a hole in the leather watch strap on one side of the fitting. This type is referred to as the "push-button butterfly type”.
